ESI BENEFITS


There are 7 ESI Benefits covered under the ESI scheme. Here we have listed them, to whom they are available to, extent to which they are available and their eligibility criteria. 1.Medical benefits

(a) Self and family of the employee.

(b) Self and spouse of retired IP’s who opted for VRS or retired prematurely after rendering 10 years of service.

(a) Full Medical Care including Super Speciality Treatment

(b) Full Medical Care

(a) Medical Care is available immediately on joining insurable employment. For Super-speciality treatment the I.P. should be eligible for Sickness Benefit.

(b) 5 years for IP’s retiring after superannuation and 10 years in case of VRS etc.

 2.Sickness benefits

91 days in two consecutive benefit periods

Contribution should have been paid/payable for 78 days in the corresponding Cont. Period.

3.Maternity benefits

12 weeks in case of confinement and 6 weeks for miscarriage/ MTP

Contribution paid/payable for 70 days in the immediately preceding 2 Consecutive Cont. Period corresponding to the benefit period in which Confinement is expected to occur.

4.Disablement benefits

(a)Temporary Disablement Benefit – Self

(b) Permanent Disablement Benefit – Self

(a)Entire period of certified disablement.

(b)For life at a rate depending upon the actual loss of earning capacity as may be determined by a duly constituted Medical Board.

(a)Disablement should occur during the course of and out of Employment and I.P. should not have worked for wages during the period

(b) Permanent loss of earning capacity should occur due to Employment Injury or due to occupational diseases.

5.Dependent benefit

Eligibility

Dependants of an I.P. who has died due to Employment Injury.

To widow for life or until remarriage. To Dependant children upto the age of 25 years.

Death should occur due to Employment Injury or occupation Diseases.

6.Funeral expenses

Eldest serviving member of the family or to the person who actually incurs the expenditure.

Rs. 10,000/- in lump sum

No condition. Paid in the event of Death of an I.P.

7.Rajiv Gandhi Shrmik Kalyan Yojana

One year

Admissible to IP’s who become temporarily unemployed due to permanent closure of a factory or gets disabled from non-employment injury after rendering 3 years of continuous service.
